Teach-Me Tuesdays: Vintage Fabric Flower

Hi, ladies! How has your week been so far? Anything new?

I've got something new! I was thinking, it can get a bit boring to be looking at craft rooms everyday right? So how about a break every week? I was thinking of incorporating a "Teach-Me Tuesday" to this blog. Every Tuesday, I'll give you a link or two to some crafty tutorials online. I'll make sure it's full of pictures too. :) Would that be okay?

So to start.. Here's something I've been meaning to learn how to do.

A Tutorial by The Adventures of BlueGirlXO

The tutorial is for a hair blip but you can totally do away with the clip and just use the pretty vintage flower for your paper crafts. :) Can't wait to try this one out!

Suuunlight! Oh, Suuunlight!

.. bring me the love I need to guide me, shine it deep inside of me. Suuunlight, oh, suuunlight, show me the waaaay...

I'm totally singing my heart out although you can't hear me (which is just as well).

I can't get the song out of my head! I'll probably be singing it the whole day. And it's this craft room's fault.

work space in an attic with skylights

I can never have this in a tropical country like mine though. I'll be fried and well-done (or maybe burnt) before I can even score my card! But you lucky ladies who are on the other side of the world might find this interesting.. :)

Rain or Swain

Hi, all! I've got two things to share today!

First, I'd like to chitchat a bit and tell you something that's been lifting my mood.. Rain! It's been raining here in my country for the past few days and I just love it! Of course, I can't really feel happy about flooded areas (and there are a lot!) but it's been soooo hot for too many days that I'm really glad to get a few days of colder temperature. So I've been lazing around for the past two days, enjoying the weather and sleeping in (a bit too much). Ah, life... :)

The second thing I'd like to share is... a happy ending. Don't you just love happily-ever-afters? I'm a hopeless romantic so I absolutely do. It's the perfect end to every story. But what I'd like to share is not really a romantic kind of happy ending but it melts my heart nevertheless. So here's the story..

Once upon a time, there was this little girl's bedroom. It was adorable albeit a bit too bare. The little girl loved it very much anyway.

Time came for the little girl's family to move and sell the house to new owners, Kristy and her husband. Now Kristy was a talented designer and craft enthusiast and after using the girl's room as a guest room for a year, she finally decided to make better use of it and went into turning the little girl's room into an office/craft room.

Erm. It was okay. It was functional but not really that inspiring. So she gathered all her creativity juices and got them flowing! After hours of conceptualizing, sketching, fixing and after a whole lot of DIY projects, she finally finished the dream craft room...

And she designed and crafted happily ever after...

Okay, that's supposed to be the end of my story but I know some of you must be dying to see the real post and a few more pictures (as you should be) so here:

Enjoy the happy ending! I have to go enjoy the cool weather and sleep some more. *wink*

Definitely EM-proved!

A dramatic makover today from Miss Em's blog..

BEFORE *cringe*:

AFTER *sigh*:

A beautiful transformation don't you think? I don't even know what the house's previous owners were thinking with that "BEFORE" style!

So. Got some news for you all today. I've been putting this off for the reason that I wanted it to be worth your while when I tell you ladies about it but I'm just too excited and I've got nothing to lose so.. What the heck. I've put up my very own website! Weee! It's a card-making site for beginners (I repeat - beginners - so please don't expect too much). And this is just as well since I'm nowhere near the professional league. haha It's not much right now but it'll get there. When I get more free time, I'll change the cards to prettier ones. I'm not feeling them much right now. I made the site look much like a really simple blog to make navigation pretty easy. That and because I am HTML and CSS illiterate and I know no programming stuff. ha ha

It's only a month old so please be kind with your comments. But um, I would very much appreciate constructive criticism and suggestions too!

Oh and we have some free beautiful printable cards by Artisan Design Studio too! You can find those in the printables section. :) My good friend April, the lady behind Artisan Design Studio, also posted about the pretty printables here

So if you have time, do drop by and visit www.lets-make-greeting-cards.com. I know the site name's not one to be excited much about but it's good for the search engines so I went with it. Plus, it lets everyone know right away what the site is about. :) But before you head there, again please don't expect much. It's really, really new. Under construction. *deep breath* Now I'm getting worried. Ok go and let's just get this over with.

Thanks for all the support, ladies! :)

The Mummy Returns

Hey, everyone! Anyone still here? So sorry for going MIA for a while. Hubby and I went for a three-day vacation at my hometown. One thing I didn't count on was faulty internet connection, you can actually consider it non-existent! Seriously! I couldn't stay connected long enough to say "Jack Robinson". Grrrr.. So anyway, what's done is done and just like the mummy, I have also returned. Sorry, don't know how and why I came up with that.

So how have you been? Any new crafting supplies? New projects? New techniques learned? As for me, I haven't gotten around to crafting lately which is a bummer. I hope to free up some of my time in the next few days to make a card or two but I'm not getting my hopes up too high.

I've been thinking about what else to share with you since I've posted a lot of craft room designs already. So I decided to do something a wee bit different. Yes, I've posted so many photos of craft spaces but they're always of some kind of color scheme: bright and cheery, calm and breezy, retro, vintage, etc. So how about a color scheme without the colors? What am I talking about? Black and white rooms of course. :) Just for a change.

So here we go! Here are some elements you might want to consider for a black and white craft space:

Shelves

Craft Table

Table and chair

Stash Organizer
Holders for pens and supplies

Damask boxes

Wall art

What your space may look like.

Another possibility

Well? What do you say? Black and white isn't so bad right? To be honest, I like it but I have to say I like colors more. Although.. that doesn't really mean I can't incorporate a few black-and-whites here and there right? :)

Have a great week ahead!

Cooool!! You can see Kelly's post here.

True Colors

So I'm crossing my fingers for my own craft room - okay, craft corner - when hubby and I finally move to our new home. I think I might have to temporarily station my area in a little corner in the guest room. I would have prepared a whole room to myself, but hey, beggars can't be choosy..

Anyhoo, I've been working on color combinations and looking for inspiring ideas on the net (which is a usual thing) and I've collected quite a lot of photos. Based on the photos I've saved, I realized that I lean towards happy colors with one or two neutral shades to go with. Narrowed down to the best 5, here are my picks:

Pink + Yellow + White

I think I like Yellow + Turquoise the most.. What about you? Which is your pick?

Dream...Dream...Dream...

Once in a while, I chance upon photos that really make me sigh and dream.. Random photos that are so beautiful, they just effortlessly make me feel happier no matter what mood I'm in. I know I'll probably never see or have any of these (some are actually impractical) but it sure feels good to dream.. It's a beautiful world. :)

You guys should have seen me posting these!! I had this dreamy, wistful look the whole time! I guess it's safe to say I'm the nature-peace-and-tranquility type...

You should try this. It's fun, rejuvenating and absolutely inspiring! Doesn't matter if it's next to impossible. It's just nice to have a few photos you can take out every now and then when something (or everything) is not going your way. :)

Have a good one!
